The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association will conduct its annual training on the Statewide Misdemeanant Confinement Program (SMCP) in order to provide critical information to sheriffs’ office personnel on the proper procedures for processing inmates through the SMCP, out-of-jail medical care, reimbursement policies, and other legal and procedural information related to the Statewide Misdemeanant Confinement Program.
In order to participate as a “receiving” county in the SMCP for the upcoming calendar year, a sheriff’s office must send at least one representative to one of the annual training classes. Counties participating as a “sending” county are encouraged to send at least one representative to one of the annual training classes as well. Sheriffs may also invite judges, the Clerk of Court, and other court personnel to attend this training.

Check-in will begin at 9:00 a.m. and each training session will take place from 9:30 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. Lunch and instructional materials will be provided ONLY to those attendees who have registered in advance.
Additional individuals from your agency are encouraged to attend. Each person attending must register separately. Please forward this email to any personnel in your agency who may wish to attend.
