The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association will conduct its annual training on the Statewide Misdemeanant Confinement Program (SMCP). The annual training will update sheriffs’ office personnel on processing inmates into the SMCP, out-of-jail medical care, reimbursement policies, and other related legislative changes such as housing for eligible Drive While Impaired (DWI) offenders.
Sheriffs’ offices desiring to participate as a “receiving” county in the SMCP for the upcoming calendar year must send at least one representative to one of the annual training classes. Counties participating as a “sending” county are encouraged to send at least one representative to one of the annual training classes as well. Sheriffs may also invite judges, the Clerk of Court, and other court personnel to this training.
Check-in will begin at 9:00 a.m. and each training session will run from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. (at the latest). Lunch and instructional materials will be provided ONLY to those who have registered in advance.
If more than one person is attending from your agency, each person attending must register separately. Please forward this email to any personnel in your agency who may wish to attend.
If you have any questions, please call Lauren Norman, NCSA SMCP Program Manager, at (919) 459-1078 or contact her via email at lnorman@ncsheriffs.net.
